Delta Airlines is canceling its planned flight to Chicago, citing the recent shooting at the U.S. Capitol building and a threat from the Chicago police.
Delta spokeswoman Lauren McElvain told The Associated Press that the airline has canceled all scheduled flights and is postponing the departure of employees, as well as the start of weekend travel for most passengers.
McElvian said the airline will be flying out of Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday, and then flying back to Los Angeles, New York and New Jersey on Saturday.
Delta said in a statement that the shooting is “another reminder of the need for vigilance and increased security at all times.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by this event.”
