When you’re flying into Washington, D.C., and need to take a selfie at the airport, there are two options: take a picture, or pay a fine.
The rules for the Airline Travelers Association of America, which represents airlines, are that both options are fine.
In a letter to its members in January, the association’s executive director, John R. Wollheim, said the group supported the idea of taking photos, but added that there were other options to make sure passengers are treated fairly.
“You can pay your fine and still have a good time in Washington,” Wollheimer said.
“I think there are other ways to do it.
That is your choice.” “
If you pay the fine and go to the airport and the airport does not charge you a fee, then it is up to you.
That is your choice.”
But what happens when you don’t take the photo and instead pay the $5 fine?
According to an email obtained by The Washington Times, the Air Traffic Control Center’s general counsel, Robert C. Bittan, sent an email to the Association of Flight Attendants in which he wrote that there is no “clear policy or procedure” for ticketing people who fail to take photos.
“The TSA and its employees are required to follow TSA policies on photographing, photographing with a cell phone, taking photos of TSA-approved equipment and equipment-related equipment, and other similar actions that are necessary to ensure safety and security,” he wrote.
Bess said that the group supports photo-ticketing but that the process is “very different” than taking a photo with a camera or even taking a video of a TSA agent.
“In general, people who refuse to take photographs do not get any points, so you don`t get fined or sent back,” Bess wrote.
“When the TSA is not able to enforce these policies, we may still have to take action.
We are not in a position to comment on any specific TSA policy or enforcement procedures.”
If you’re still unsure about taking a picture at the gate, there is one easy way to avoid paying a fine: If you are already at the boarding gate and the TSA officer asks if you are traveling with your cellphone, you can use the TSA’s website to order a photo ticket for a $35 nonrefundable $5.
Passengers are not required to have a photo ID to get a photo, but they can still buy one for free.
Bresson said the organization supports photos of airport employees but that it does not condone them.
“We do not support this practice of refusing to take photo with your cell phone,” Bressons letter said.
He said the TSA does not use cameras to check the IDs of passengers and that the agency uses other technology to detect fraud.
“Some airports have cameras that detect if a passenger is trying to defraud the airport,” Bresnick wrote.
But even if you don, you may still be ticketed if you take a photo.
According to the Transportation Security Administration’s website, the only rule for the use of a camera on a TSA employee is that the TSA will only allow the employee to take pictures if they “are clearly visible.”
The site also states that “no person should be denied entry to or from an airport if he or she has a valid photo ID, unless the TSA considers the image to be offensive or indecent.”
According to Bresnik, the TSA should allow anyone to take selfies in the airport with the proper photo ID.
“There is no way around it, it is not OK to take this photo,” he said.
